Fava beans (Vicia faba), commonly known as broad beans, are an ancient pulse cultivated for their nutritious seeds. Large and meaty compared with many other pulses, fava beans are a rich source of plant protein, dietary fiber, vitamins (notably folate) and minerals. When dried, they offer a firm texture and a mild, slightly nutty flavor that adapts well across savory and snack applications.

Widely grown in temperate regions, high-quality fava bean production is concentrated in areas with well-drained soils and moderate climates. Didwaniya Group works with established growers to select varieties that deliver consistent size, color and nutritional profile—then cleans, grades and packs them to international standards for bulk shipments and specialty orders.

Application

Fava beans are exceptionally versatile: they are used whole or split in soups, stews and traditional dishes (falafel and ful medames), milled into protein-rich flours for bakery and pasta applications, extruded into snacks, or processed into canned and frozen products. Food manufacturers value fava bean flour and isolate for high-protein formulations, while animal feed and aquafeed producers use lower-grade fractions. Their neutral, slightly nutty taste and high protein make them ideal for plant-based meat analogues, fortification and gluten-free formulations.

Storage Condition

Store in dry, clean, well-ventilated warehouses free from pests, at a relative humidity of no more than 65% and a temperature of no more than 20°C. Protect from direct sunlight and strong odors; ensure FIFO stock rotation and maintain hygienic packing to preserve quality and shelf life.
